Deadline Domination: Sharks Acquire RW Guerin from St. Louis

In perhaps the biggest deadline deal in Sharks history, San Jose has picked up a 14-year NHL Veteran and winger Bill Guerin from the St. Louis Blues. The Blues who have long been a seller in this latest campaign received forward Ville Nieminen, a 1st round pick, and a minor league prospect. Doug Wilson is showing that he’s serious about this playoff push and can only scream at his club “the time is now!” with this trade. Bill Guerin

Earlier this week, Wilson received a big-time defenseman in Craig Rivet from Montreal. So, with holes in parts of the Sharks squad coming into deadline week, Wilson has filled the holes and is ready for the push.

The only disadvantage to both of these deals is the loss of BOTH the Shark’s First Round selections in the coming draft. Of course, if this works out the way he plans, it may not matter that much.

The Sharks have consistently been stellar on Draft Day as well, so I can only assume that Wilson will have a plan in place by then.

For now, though, The Sharks have pulled off a great transaction. And while Guerin will likely only be in teal for the rest of this season and the playoff stint, this solidifies and should bolster an offense that is finding it hard to get pucks through.

Teal Town USA should be encouraged that the Sharks aren’t giving up on this one, and the pieces are falling into place for what could be a great playoff year for San Jose.

Guerin has scored 6 goals in his last 6 games, and ironically had a Hat Trick against the Sharks just two weeks ago.
