The Silver Bullet

An opinion in popular sports

Game 3: A return to Validity

The San Jose Sharks finally returned to the game they know and love. The returned to the game that made them successful in the first place. They returned to Sharks hockey, with strong and dominant puck control that forced the Predators spend too much time in their own end. For twenty minutes I wasn’t sure though. The Preds came out strong and looked to continue their physical dominance. About five minutes into the second, I noticed the change.

The onslaught began and the sharks racked up 18 shots in the second period and scored twice, though, I wasn’t ever sure that Vokoun could be beaten on this night. Tomas still had a stellar game but allowed just three of Team Teal’s 41 shots. Strategic puck handling and solid positional (non-violent) defense won this day and the Sharks have returned for now. After two games of physical play, The Preds could not keep up with the obviously more-skilled Sharks stick-handlers. Paul Kariya and Peter Forsberg were virtually invisible at the Tank.

Thus, the Sharks need to stick to this game plan. They need to stick to this philospophy. Team Teal will not resort to Trotz tactics any longer.

Sharks take series lead with convincing win. Sharks 3, Preds 1.
